Isaacaustin, your wife was DFd because the three-year statute of limitations applies only to elders and MS's. Rank and file can be punished for anything at any time, especially sisters. If you're looking for elitism and mysogeny all rolled up into one, this rule's a win-win.

Borg court: 1st session
by sd-7 inrecord of committee meeting #1. after prayer, proverbs 28:13 was read: "he who is covering over his transgressions will not succeed, but he who is confessing and leaving them will be shown mercy.
" the need to confess to jehovah was emphasized.
as jehovah's representatives, the elders said we therefore needed to confess to them.

Raed Lawrence Hughes' side of his case against the Watchtower Society

he needs to raise money now for court costs, the fight is far from over.
when on the site, page down to the yellow background..

I think the fact that the guy needs money is relevant to any discussion of the case. If that can't be mentioned, even in passing, then what are we saying about the topic as a group?

Just for clarification, when did you get married, sd-7? I was under the impression it was some time ago but Jamie indicates it wasn't. Not that it matters to me, but it would illustrate how these elders chase down stuff from the past.

The most frightening time in this Worlds History!
by wannabe indoes the bible supply us with any information, that might give us, at least, some idea when this frightening time period will begin?does it show us, in some way, just how frightening this time period will be, and just what is the main cause of it?
" [matthew 24:8 niv}.
what was it that actually marked the beginning of these birth pangs?

Indeed, we have never had it so good.
Honestly, the period of the world wars was probably the most bleak. Things are actually pretty good right now.

There is, in my view, no such thing as an accurate description of God.
This may be the best, most concise religious statement I have ever read.
The Jews placed him into their own religio/cultural context ...because, well ....they had their own distinct religio/cultural context.
I don't think this is true. Jews of the period, as Terry points out, were as diverse or even moreso than the modern-day sects of Christendom. The unity Christians tend to ascribe to them is pretty much made-up.
As for the criticism of Chalam, I don't think it's necessary or appropriate. He seems to be sincere, kind, and respectful in imitation of Christ, which is something a lot of folks, Christian and otherwise, could learn from.

It wasn't even an affair, cyber. He AND HIS WIFE had sex before getting married. YEARS AGO!
That's all it was. The worst thing they did was NOT TELL THE ELDERS.
Let me qualify that. Worst thing according to the borg. I'm not convinced he did anything wrong, either, or that God cares whether a guy has sex with his fiance'.

Are JWs attracting more and more off-center people?
by undercover inthis thread is prompted by the thread about a jw woman who disprupted a funeral.
i don't know the details as i can't view youtube from work, but it did get me to thinking.... over the last couple of decades, at least, i've noticed that more and more 'fringe personalities', for a lack of a better term, have infiltrated the ranks of the everyday jws.
true, jws are themselves a fringe element to normal society, but even within their own communities, there used to be a sense of normalcy, or at least seemed to be.. has the cultic message of the wt society started attracting people with different thought processes over this time period?

It was just you. They've always been loony. I've been in maybe a dozen congregations in my life and there hasn't been a single one without at least one completely crazy person (in good standing in the congregation) in it, usually several. The JWs are probably 20% weirdos, 70% normal people who are duped, and 10% uber-dubs.

Help over BOE letters
by JWFreak injust a quick question for some help.. if a person was able to log into the jw.org website using a personalised user name and password given to them by the wt computer services dept, would the borg be able to tell what websites that person had visited, what information would they be able to glean off his computer?
can they track the computer etc?.
any advice welcomed.... .

That's not the question, leec. He's supposed to download stuff from their server as an elder; they have no problem with that because that's why he has the logon and password. He wants to know whether they can see stuff from other sites that he's downloaded or visited.

There is a difference between disbelief and non-belief. Are you sure you aren't just an agnostic?
I agree with Leaving. Don't tell unless there's a reason to.
